Why didn't May return at any point during the X and Y anime? Not only would it have been perfect for ORAS marketing, but she also could have bonded with Serena over their similar "looking for a purpose/goal in life" arcs and use her contest skills to help her with her showcases. So what exactly was Iris thinking by entering the Masters 8 tournament without a single gimmick? She could have at least got a Dynamax Band because she has seemingly been in Galar for quite some time and has been in many World Coronation battles against people who have used them.
