Tenant right question
So my apartment flooded at around 4am and it’s substantial enough that they have to rip open the walls and flooring. From my understanding, the landlord to required to pay for relocation for the duration of construction as taking down walls and flooring would leave it inhospitable. The leasing office is saying that I need to file a claim with my renters insurance and have them cover it. I’ve reached out to multiple tenant advocate services in the area but haven’t been able to get in touch with anyone yet and they’re starting construction today so I want to try to figure it out soon. Do I have to go through my insurance or should they cover it? Flooding is due to a burst pipe and I’m not at fault.
