"The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden is triggering

I was looking for a fun and easy read. Something that would catch my attention, an easy beach read basically. The synopsis for this book looked as if it was more geared towards a housekeeper/ maid rather than a live in nanny. As I started to get into it, I'm finding myself like genuinely stressed out for this character and appalled at her boss. Has anyone else read this book? Does it get better? Maybe I should switch to something more comforting, like Stephen King 😄 I do not need to be clenching my jaw and feeling nauseous at night when I'm supposed to be winding down and relaxing.
